I had to contact Kidde this morning. I was pleasantly surprised as they called me back almost instantly and dealt with my issue in a few seconds. Their customer service rep Rosemary was cheerful and a pleasure to deal with. We have bought quite a few of the Kidde Carbon Monoxide and Smoke combined alarms. Its a great product. We were so impressed we bought them for our families as well.
They are also great in our Motorhome in which we have used 3 of them for added safety when we have the Grandchildren on board. I was so pleased with the way my call was handled I thought I would take the time to do a review.

A local company (Xspec Power, Elkview, WV) installed a generator and gave me a Kidde carbon monoxide detector which eventually sounded what I think was a false alarm. Kidde would not answer any questions about the detector. Since carbon monoxide gas is very dangerous, I recommend folks shop for another brand of detector. Xspec should also provide another brand if Xpec cares about its customers.
I see that Kidde replied and asked me to call an 800 number. Why won't they reply to the website contact? On August 2 and 7 Kidde sent emails that said: "Thank you for contacting the Kidde Product Support Team. This e-mail is to inform you that we have received your support request. We will respond to your request as soon as possible." That was a lie.
I want to keep everything in writing. So, Kidde, you have my email address. Respond to that. Since then, I have contacted First Alert twice and received answers to my questions (via email) within an hour.

I bought four Firex smoke detectors by Kidde for a home install. After install one was not working properly. So, I called Kidde customer service and was treated very poorly by their rep Brian (very passive aggressive). After the call I pulled all the detectors went to a different store and bought First Alert. Installed the units and they worked flawlessly out of the box.
Never had problem with Kidde products before and after one call to their customer service I'll never use another Kidde product. After reading the reviews here I'm not alone. Thank you for your response. When I spoke to Brian I did ask for a supervisor, he said none were available. I pressed him to find one for me he finally agreed and said I would have to wait until they were done with their phone call.
I agreed and thanked him for helping me, he told me I was welcome in a very sarcastic tone. I was talking to my client and mentioned how rude Brian was, he then came back on the line and told how sorry he was that I felt that way (again very sarcastic). I let him know his passive aggressive tone had not gone unnoticed. He then disconnected me, I called back and spoke to a young lady named Chrissy.
I complained and she said she would pass it along. As far calling your customer service again, I'm not going to do that. If you would like to call me I would be open to that. I left my name and number with both Brian and Chrissy.

I had bought a 3 pack of the fire/carbon monoxide alarms for each floor in my home. They are guaranteed for 10 years one of the three became faulty, and I literally emailed customer service at 9:00am in the morning explaining what happened and asked what my next steps were. By 10:30am I had an email reply from Ann Biglow saying that the company will replace my faulty alarm, and to expect it withing 7-10 days. No questions asked, and thanked me for being a KIDDE customer. Fantastic customer service - I highly recommend 100% Thank you.

Unbelievably terrible customer service. I'd MUCH rather deal with my cable service provider. Why offer an email contact option if you don't reply to emails? Why have a customer support phone line if you don't answer the phone? Terrible. Oh, and thanks for the faulty fire alarm too, that's been a lot of fun.
