The original project took 3 months and required the old system of 160 doors, 18 test tracks and several obsolete access control systems to be brought into one global system. CDS had been delivering security solutions for Bridgend County Council over several years and were asked to manage and deliver the new coastal CCTV cameras project.
The Porthcawl coastline is an extremely popular destination for tourists and water sport enthusiasts. With a peak of footfall in the Summer months from May to the end of September, there are 6 beaches all lying within the Bridgend County Council boundaries. During peak time the main beaches are patrolled by RNLI Lifeguards but Newton Bay has no full-time lifeguard cover throughout the year.
Rhondda Cynon Taf Council initiated a 150,000 programme to upgrade the CCTV systems in seven towns across the county - making it one of the most advanced systems in the country. The project is part of the Councils commitment to keeping residents and visitors safe in Rhondda Cynon Taf, and helps the Council and its partners to not only prevent and detect crime and anti-social behavior but also to locate and safeguard vulnerable individuals, including missing persons.
